Call for Development Group Members – AS 7460 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (Drones) – Operational Requirements
The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) is seeking nominations from people to join a Development Group to develop a new Australian Standard – AS 7460 remotely piloted aircraft systems (Drones) operational requirements.
The use of drones within the rail industry is rapidly increasing with trials being undertaken to make best use of this technology. Although there are requirements for drones in general, there are no specific requirements for their use within the rail corridor/environment.
This Australian Standard will provide the rail industry with a set of requirements which will ensure the current use of remotely piloted aircraft systems is recognised and assists in the introduction and future use of such systems. This Standard will address rail operator usage of drone technology for security, infrastructure inspections, trespasser locating, carrying payload and potential for rapid response capability.
How to contribute
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit nominations for subject matter experts to join this Development Group to contribute to the overall depth and quality of the Standard.
Development Group membership is voluntary and requires the support of your organisation to attend and contribute. There will be 4 meetings over the development period – 2 face-to-face (expected in March and June 2019) and 2 teleconferences (December 2018 and September 2019). Further information on the responsibilities of a Development Group member can be obtained from the RISSB website.
All nominations and enquiries are to be submitted to email@example.com.
