Call for Development Group Members – AS 7664 Railway Signal Cable Routes, Cable Pits and Foundations

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) is seeking nominations from people to join a Development Group to review Australian Standard® – AS 7664 Railway Signal Cable Routes, Cable Pits and Foundations.

Overview
This Standard specifies the accepted criteria that shall be employed when designing, procuring or installing signalling cable routes, cable pits and signalling infrastructure foundations on the Australian rail network.

The types of signalling cable routes covered include:

  • Buried routes, cables directly buried
  • Buried routes, cables in pipes
  • Surface routes, ground level troughing
  • Surface routes, galvanised steel troughing
  • Cable ladder routes.

This Standard also includes the requirements for the following:

  • Under line crossings
  • Under road crossings
  • Cable pits
  • Signal foundations
  • Gantry foundations
  • Ground frame foundations.

How to contribute
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit nominations for subject matter experts to join this Development Group to contribute to the overall depth and quality of the Standard.

Development Group membership is voluntary and requires the support of your organisation to attend and contribute.

There will be 4 meetings over the development period – 2 face-to-face (expected in March and June 2020) and 2 teleconferences (January 2020 & September 2020). Further information on the responsibilities of a Development Group member can be obtained from the RISSB website.
