Call for Public Consultation – AS 7460 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (Drones) – Operational Requirements

The use of drones within the rail industry is rapidly increasing with trials being undertaken to make best use of this technology. Although there are requirements for drones in general, there are no specific requirements for their use within the rail corridor/environment.

This Australian Standard® will provide the rail industry with a set of requirements which will ensure the current use of remotely piloted aircraft systems is recognised and assists in the introduction and future use of such systems. This Standard will address rail operator usage of drone technology for security, infrastructure inspections, trespasser locating, carrying payload and potential for rapid response capability.

AS 7460 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (Drones) – Operational Requirements is now available for an 8-week public consultation.
