The closing date for nominations – Friday 9 May 2025

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) is seeking nominations to join a Development Group to review AS 7510.4 Braking Systems – Part 4 – Infrastructure Maintenance Rolling Stock.

How will this help the rail industry?

The ability to control speed and stop is a critical rail safety requirement. The review of AS 7510.4 will futureproof maintenance rolling stock braking systems and prevent safety incidents.

The review will analyse the current requirements defined, consider the latest changes and advancements in vehicle braking systems, apply learnings for accidents/incidents and align with the other RISSB braking Standards and Codes of Practice.

Ultimately, it will ensure safe operations by updating the requirements for the design, manufacture, testing and in-service maintenance of infrastructure maintenance rolling stock brake systems.
