AS 7722 EMC Management

he closing date for comments – Monday 8 December 2025

The AS 7722 EMC Management draft is now open for Public Consultation.

How this product helps the rail industry

AS 7722 EMC Management defines requirements for the management of electromagnetic emissions and susceptibility of devices used in the railway so that all systems used in the railway are electromagnetically compatible.

The Standard provides a harmonised approach to the management of electromagnetic emissions in a railway operating environment so that all systems used in the railway align with Australian legislative requirements and international Standards.

About

AS 7722 EMC Management has been reviewed and updated by a Development Group consisting of industry specialists. As part of this review, the Development Group examined and addressed:

  • The requirement for rail transport operators (RTOs) to adopt a structured framework to support EMC management.
  • The requirement for RTOs to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements regarding EMC management.
  • Guidance on managing EMC risks introduced by new or altered systems and products.

The development group recognised the importance of analysing EMC emissions for potential harmful effects to humans across various electromagnetic frequency spectrums.
