Sydney Trains Wins Safety Award
Congratulations to Sydney Trains who last night took out the RISSB sponsored Safety Award in the 2021 Australasian Rail Industry Awards (ARIA).
Sydney Trains was recognised for their innovative Platform Gap Filler project which took the average number of falls between the Circular Quay platform and trains from 33 to zero.
While there were many noteworthy submissions in the Safety Award category, the overall reduction in safety incidents and the cost effectiveness of the gap filler solution contributed to Sydney Trains winning the award.
Congratulations to all ARIA winners from the night particularly Trevor Moore who was last night awarded the Career Achievement Award recognising 50 years of meritorious service to the rail industry.
Also, a big thank you to our panel of judges who worked with us behind the scenes to determine a worthy Safety Award winner:
* Helen Williams - Executive General Manager Specialty Engineering ANZ, Systra
* Greg Watson - National Rules Manager, ARTC
* Catherine Peppler - Head of Safety, Health and Environment, Aurizon
* Bill Greer - Director of Safety, Rail Projects Victoria.
