New RISSB CEO Announced
The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board’s Chief Executive Officer, Deborah Spring, has announced that she will step down as CEO on 29 August and will resume her former role as RISSB’s Independent Chair. She will be succeeded by industry leader Damien White who has been appointed RISSB’s new CEO, officially taking up the CEO role on 15 August. David George, who currently serves as RISSB’s Chair, will continue his association with RISSB, reverting to the role of Independent Director at the end of
RISSB Chair, David George, said that Ms Spring has provided strong leadership to RISSB through a successful growth phase, driving RISSB’s contribution to the rail harmonisation and interoperability agenda in Australia.

Jesse Baker's 10 Year Work Anniversary Celebrated
The RISSB team converged on Brisbane this week to attend an-all hands meeting and to officially acknowledge Jesse Baker's contribution to the business over the past 10 years.
In addition to receiving heartfelt congratulations and a commemorative certificate, he was presented with a Ausision model of an Indian Pacific liveried locomotive and coach.
RISSB Attends Urban Rail Conference
This week wrapped up the Urban Rail Conference bringing together a multitude of attendees at the Gold Coast to discuss how urban rail is reshaping the Australasian landscape.
RISSB Standards Development Manager, Cris Fitzhardinge, represented RISSB and contributed to a panel discussion titled What do we need to do differently to reduce the costs of projects?
