AS 7488 Locomotive and Passenger Vehicle Flooring Update

Recently we kicked off work on a new Standard: AS 7488 Locomotive and Passenger Vehicle Flooring that is being delivered as a National Rail Action Plan (NRAP) project. This Standard will not only provide requirements for the design, installation, and maintenance of locomotive and passenger vehicle flooring for new and modified rolling stock, but will also consolidate related requirements in other Standards, such as slip and trip prevention in AS 7522 Access & Egress and fire resistance performance requirements as stated in AS 7529.3 - Australian Railway Rolling Stock - Fire Safety.

AS 7518 Rolling Stock Suspension Development Group Update 

The review of AS 7518 Rolling stock suspension, which is also an NRAP project, continues to hit development milestones. The Development Group met last week to discuss the content of the current Standard and will meet again in the first week of November to continue working on a draft suitable for public consultation.

AS 7631 Railway Infrastructure - Sighting

This week the newly formed Development Group met online to discus the current Standard and what amendments might be required to ensure it reflects the current needs of the Australian rail industry. A number of improvements and updates were suggested, and will be explored further in the coming months.
