Single Line Working allows rail traffic to be worked in both directions over a single line in the Network, when the normal system of Safeworking is unavailable.

Separate work groups may occupy the portion of track defined by a Local Possession Authority (LPA). The Possession Protection Officer is responsible for the overall protection of workers & worksites under an LPA.
