Call for Development Group Members – Aged review – AS7532 – Audible warning devices

The closing date for nominations – Friday 3 May 2024

The Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) is seeking nominations from people to join a Development Group to undertake an aged review of AS 7532 – Audible warning devices.

How will this product help the rail industry? 

Your contribution to the review of this Standard will help advise the rail industry on the latest best practice application of audible warning devices.

About

The objective of AS 7532 is to describe the requirements for audible warning devices for the following types of rolling stock:

  • Locomotive
  • Self-propelled passenger rolling stock driving vehicles including driving vehicles on a push/pull set
  • Infrastructure maintenance rolling stock vehicles
  • Light rail vehicles (new for this aged review)
  • Road rail vehicles (new for this aged review)

The main purpose of the requirements is to ensure that the design is suitable to allow the audible warning device/s to operate as an effective safety system.

Time commitment 

Development Group membership is voluntary and requires the support of your organisation to attend and contribute. There will be a minimum of six meetings held between May 2024 and February 2025. The meetings will be conducted via video conference.

How to contribute

Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit nominations for subject matter experts to join this Development Group to contribute to the overall depth and quality of the product.

As part of your nomination, please provide a brief including your contact details, interest in this development (materially affected party, subject matter expert, etc.), and any other information supporting your participation. This information will assist us in ensuring balanced representation from all major interest categories in developing this document.
