No images? Click here Edition 57 April 2024 INSIDE THIS EDITION+ CEO message CEO MESSAGELast Sunday was the first day of service for METRONET’s new C-Series trains – manufactured in Perth! This is the first manufacturing of passenger rolling stock in Perth for more than 30 years, and hundreds more are planned to be built over the next decade. These rail cars have around 50% of local content – which is no mean feat, and they’re planning to continually increase local content. Building rail rolling stock with local content is much easier said than done, although there’s been significant progress made in Victoria with trains and tram, and now in Queensland and WA, and plans for local manufacturing in NSW. The NTC’s National Rail Action Plan has helped by rationalising what have historically been State-based standards for many components, and of course RISSB has played a role in that standards work. A great day from Australian rail manufacturing!
