RISSB has received a very strong response for participation in these fatigue-related Development Groups. For those who have nominated themselves, RISSB advises that Development Group members will be contacted in the coming weeks with more information about when meetings will commence either late this year
or early in the new year.
AS 7702 Rail Equipment Type Approval Update
The review of AS 7702 Rail Equipment Type Approval is coming along well with the review of the draft almost complete. The Development Group anticipate that they will have a draft ready for independent review early in the new year.

New research commissioned by the Australasian Railway Association and Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board has found that inefficient type approval processes are costing the rail industry $230 million per year.
The research, conducted by Synergies Economic Consulting, reviewed the range of type approval processes used across the country and found that industry and governments can save time and money by adopting a more nationally consistent standardised process. Read the media release here.
