CALL FOR DEVELOPMENT GROUP MEMBERS Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) is seeking nominations from people to join RISSB development groups for several rolling stock projects: - AS 7511 Train Protection Systems
- AS 7528 Interior Communications
- AS 7530 Electrical Systems
Stakeholders and interested parties are invited to submit nominations for subject matter experts to join Development Groups to contribute to the overall depth and quality of the above documents. Overview: AS 7511 Train Protection Systems The purpose of this document is to establish industry standards for Train Protection Systems. This Standard will cover the application, design, construction and maintenance of Train Protection Systems
including— Train Stop System, Vigilance System, Station Protection Systems, Deadman System, TPWS, ATP, ATMS, ETCS, CBTC. AS 7528 Interior Communications Standard describing the minimum performance requirements for interior audio-visual communications systems in rolling stock. Functional and performance requirements for audio-visual internal
communications systems such as crew to crew, crew to passenger, passenger to crew and passenger information systems. The scope of this Standard excludes hardware. AS 7530 Electrical Systems This Standard will describe the performance requirements for electrical systems on-board rolling stock, to complement existing electrical wiring standards with rolling stock-specific content. The scope includes provision of known good practice for design, construction and maintenance requirements for on board electrical systems, wiring, separation of wiring, conduits, earthing requirements, classes of insulation. It will include: - Low, medium and high voltage;
- Inter-vehicle connection;
- Terminations.
How to Contribute DG membership is voluntary and requires the support of your employer organisation to attend and contribute. Attendance can be via teleconferencing, with attendance at around five (5) meetings over the development of the standard.
